The Carterville Lions wrapped up last week with a hard-fought conference win over the Du Quoin Indians on the road Friday night winning 57-50.

The Lions were lead in scoring by Brendan Beasley who had 22 points on the night, including the big three pointer at the end of the third quarter. Taylor Heil had a huge game on the boards with twelve rebounds and also had a HUGE three at the end of the first half. Luke Ford (10), Dylan Moore (6), Justin Johnson (6) and Blake Jackson (5) also made it in the score book.

Coach Shane Hawkins said that Friday's game at Du Quoin was a typical SIRR battle.

This week, the Lions have a busy weekend as they will host the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats on Friday night for a SIRR conference game with a 7:45 pm scheduled tip-off.

On Saturday, the Lions will make the 4 mile trek to Carbondale to take on the Terriers in a 2:00 PM start. The pre-game show will begin at 1:45 on NewsRadio WJPF. Join Scott and I for all the action for both games. We will have our YouTube Live Stream up and running for both games. You can listen to the game online here or watch and listen to the games below.

With a brief Christmas break just a week away, the Lions will get right back to action starting on December 27th with the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic. Here are the pairings:

The Lions earn a a big win on the road at Nashville on Tuesday night 52-47.

Carterville AD Brett Diel posted the schedule for the Benton Christmas Classic that Lady Lions will be playing in.

Carterville Cheerleaders

The Carterville Lion cheerleaders took to the floor for their first competition of the season at the Pinckneyville Invitational. Coach Linda Drusts' squad finished fourth out of sixteen teams. The ladies will be on the road again this Sunday when they perform at Edwardsville High School.

It would be fantastic to see a huge crowd and more of our football and basketball players come up to watch this team perform. They are one of the top squads in the state after finishing in the top ten in the state last year and these ladies work hard to perfect their craft.

Here is their performance from Pinckneyville last week.

Also, I want to say congratulations to the Cheerleading team for finishing first in their competition this past weekend. With the win, these ladies qualified for the IHSA State competition. #LionPride

Football Honors for Ford

Congratulations to the Lions Luke Ford on being named to the SICA All-South Football team this week. Representing the SIRR and Carterville High School well!
