And The Season Comes Down To This

Week 9. The last game of the year. Backs against the wall. Do or die. Win and you're in. Senior Night.

This Friday night at 7:00 pm the Carterville Lions will play one more game for their playoff lives as Massac County travels to Carterville.

Massac County comes in to this weeks game with a 1-7 record on the season. Don't overlook this team! That one win this season was a 14-13 win at Nashville back on September 2nd. They are a group of very athletic players and if you let your guard down, they will make you pay.

The Lions goal for this week is just take care of business. Play good hard defense, score early in the game, get a lead, beat your man, win the game.

This game has huge playoff implications. If the Lions don't win, they don't make the playoffs. Everyone that we talk with says that with a win the Lions will have enough points to earn a playoff berth.

Senior Night for Carterville

It has been a lot of fun to watch this group of seniors play football for the past couple of years. Just want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate each of them.

When it comes to football and Senior Night, I

don't believe their is a better way to commemorate your high school football career than by play Kenny Chesney's "Boys of Fall". It is a perfect recap of playing high school football and all of the time and effort that is put in to a season, especially your last season.

This years group of seniors include:

They didn't let just anybody in that club Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood To get to wear those game-day jerseys down the hall The kings of the school, man, we're the boys of fall

Radio/Live-Stream Broadcast Info

Scott and I will have all of the action starting with our pre-game show starting at 6;45 on NewsRadio WJPF, www.wjpf.com or on our YouTube live-stream. You can watch and listen to the game below.

At halftime tonight, will have the opportunity to talk with John McCamish of the "Hill Gang". Of course the Hill Gang are responsible for shooting the big cannon at after a touch-down for the Carterville Lions. Mr. McCamish is passing the torch on to his son in-laws after tonights game. Though it would be fun to talk at half-time tonight!

Just wanted to say well done to Carterville High School, Athletic Director Brett Dial and Principal Todd Rogers recognizing last year's softball champion Lady Lions.

Congratulations to Coach Will Capie, his coaching staff and to all the ladies that made last years team such a unforgettable group. The picture on the left is of the state championship ring that each team member received during the ceremony last Friday night.
