This is My View of Southern Illinois Miners Baseball

For every home game during this season, I feel like I have the best seat in stadium. This picture shows you the vie I have for over forty plus games this season at Rent One Park.

The Miners are celebrating their tenth season in the Frontier League this season. I have been fortunate enough to have something to do with the team in one form or fashion for almost every single year. This year has been the most enjoyable though.

For the 2016 season, I have the pleasure of the being the PA voice of the Southern Illinois Miners. And as a fan who loves his baseball, there isn't a better job in the world. Between my different roles in radio, I have spent many an hour at the ballpark following the Miners. From hosting the weekly "Riding the Pine" on 103.5ESPN to filming commercial for our stations that play at the park on a nightly basis.

This year is different. But this year I have the opportunity to be a part of the game each and every night.

My responsibilities are easy. Most people don't' realize everything that goes on in order to produce a baseball game every night. I interact with the production team and relay information from them to the fans that come to the ballpark to watch their Miners play. There are some scripted items that are read, mainly to warn you to watch for foul balls, or when beer sales are going to end each night. But the best part for me is being a part of the game itself. Announcing the starting lineups, introducing the batters as they approach the plate. Hearing the crowd respond when their favorite players name is announced.

But the best part is just watching fantastic baseball every night, AND I get paid to do it. I even go as for as to keep a scorecard on my Ipad. It help keep my head in the game.

In my opinion Rent One Park and the Southern Illinois Miners are the cream of the crop when it come to miner league baseball and their facilities. This year is shaping up to be something special as the Miners have the best record in league and show no signs of slowing down.

Keep in mind, as I write this, there are only 15 home games remaining in the 2016 regular season before the playoff season begins. If you haven't done so already, come out and watch the Miners play.
