Welcome Back Miners!

I knew this was going to be a crazy weekend before it started. But it turns out that as busy as it was, crazy is not the way to describe it.

Friday night was the 2016 season opener for the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Park. This year I have added to my somewhat already hectic life the PA announcer duties for the Miners home games.
The best part of being the voice of the ball team is when the home team introductions take place. That's when everyone in the park is really "listening" to what you are saying and when the energy level is the highest. Well at least most of the time. Plus, just being able to watch baseball and play just a small role in presenting it to people is fantastic.
Here is the call of the 2016 Southern Illinois Miners roster and starting lineup.

Saturday Night was all about our Matty as he graduated with Carterville High School. More about that in a later post.
Sunday evening was the series finale with the Traverse City Beach Bums and the Miners walk away with a 6-4 win to take the opening series of the season. Saw a fantastic pitching performance from Josh Kimborowicz who started for the Miners.
I think it's going to be a great season and hopefully a championship caliber one at that.
