I Never Had A Chance to Say "Thank You"

Stunned! Simply stunned!

I don't know how else to describe how I felt upon hearing that Prince had passed away yesterday. And at the age of 57? My gosh....I was stunned.

I never took the opportunity to go to one of concerts. But now, I regret that. Not that I wasn't a fan, but, I just didn't expect Prince to be gone so soon. I felt the same way with Michael...with Whitney...with George and with Merle.

You wouldn't expect to see those names on the same list, but in my world I just love music, and those four gave me music from my life. And those are some of the greats that have passed in just the last few years. What they have in common is what's important. They were able to connect with people on a personal level through their words, their writing, their performances.

There are two videos that I have been watching over and over the last couple of days.

Perhaps the best tribute to Prince that I've seen belongs to the NFL. As seen in the video below, it shows that Prince wasn't a prima donna. He wasn't anything like that. A man who loved to perform. A man that was driven by the music...not his ego. In fact he asks "Can you make it rain harder?"

I will be throwing my attention to the entire collection of music that he performed, that he inspired, that he developed in others.

But the video I love the most, is his performance during the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremonies. On the stage with guys like Tom Petty, Steve Winwood and others.

Just for now I would like to change the title to "While My World Gently Weeps"!

Oh, and Prince..."Thank you"!
