Big John, ETC and Mo

This has been one of those weekends where there were a ton of things going on.

Throwing the 1st pitch at the Miners Game on Friday Night

Friday Night I had a lot of fun throwing out the first pitch at the Miner's Game at Rent One Park. It had been far to long since I had been back there and really had a great time.

The best part about that was the fact that Amy and the boys were all there with their buds, plus the fact that I didn't bounce my pitch in. It was high and inside. Not a strike, but I'll take it.

Saturday evening was a busy night as I had the opportunity to be with two of the most talented people in country music.

First off was the benefit for Mentors4Kids at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center where the one and only Earl Thomas Conley performed.During the 1980's and early 90's, ETC had more #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Charts, than any other artist in any other genre, other than Alabama and Ronnie Milsap. He told me he was blocked by those guys.

The set list for Saturday night

Mr. Conley was able to play just the hits and it was fantastic, alot of which I play on the Saturday Morning Oldies Show.

Thanks to everyone that came out to help raise money for such a great cause and ETC, thank you for bringing your talent to our area.

Earl Thomas Conley and the Band

August 1, 2015

And finally to put a wrap on a busy Saturday Night, myself and the girls made a trip up to Royalton for the first Ducks and Bucks Freedom Fest to present the entertainment for the night. This place was absolutely crazy. A weekend of trucks, mud, beverages and great music.

Mo Pitney on the Freedom Fest Stage - August 1, 2015

One of my favorite and one of the nicest people you would ever meet, Mo Pitney took to the stage late Saturday. There is definately a reason why Billboard Magazine said that Mo is one of the artist to watch in 2015.

Moo Pitney, Freedom Fest, August 1, 2015

In the middle of field in the middle of southern Illinois, his set sounded incredible. With lyrics that are catchy as any you will hear, his band is equally as good. I can't wait to see where he winds up as his career plows ahead.

Presenting the Honorary Membership to the Ducks & Bucks Club to Mo Pitney. August 1, 2015

It's always nice to get to surprise someone, and in the middle of his set at Freedom Fest, myself along with Jennifer Wright, one of the owners of the Ducks and Bucks Outfitters, took to the stage to present Mo with an Honorary Membership to the club. Thanks to Mike and Jennifer for the bringing this event to Southern Illinois.

I've been pretty fortunate to meet some incredibly talented people in my life. Mo Pitney has quickly become one of my favorites and one of favorites of our New Country Z100 listeners, not just as a performer, but as a friend as well. It's always nice to see a local Illinois boy do well, and we are going to be hearing alot about Mo Pitney in the future.

Here is one of the songs that I think you'll like....it's about the day he met Merle Haggard.
